How To Identify Genuine Agarwood Oudh Chips And Avoid Fake One

As an agarwood oudh chips buyer, the biggest issue is the incompetency to identify genuine and quality oudh chips. Of course, nobody would like to purchase an inferior or degraded quality when they pay a fair amount of cost. Due to of lack of knowledge and experience in this trade, many people find it a cumbersome task to thrive in recognizing genuine oudh chips. Hence, it is always recommended to ask for a sample from the agarwood supplier in India even if the seller takes some cost for it, so that you can bring it home for conducting a qualifying test.

Though there are several techniques that can be very useful and productive in choosing the right quality and pure of oudh chips, yet we should be careful while analyzing and aligning multiple factors before making the final call.

Important and useful factors to identify pure oudh chips include the following:

Appearance

When you see the raw chips multiple oil veins will be explicitly visible. Apart from the oil veins, dark lines can also be seen on the exterior surface. On the contrary, if you do not see any thread and the surface is smooth with solid color, it reflects the fact that the dealer or seller has played some trick or tampering around the wood.

Scent

Another way to identify whether the agarwood chips are real or not is its fragrance. The heating experiment is the best option for this. Do not burn it directly instead you can use a spoon to place the chip and hold it under the fire. You can also use an incense burner. If the chip releases a healthy amount of bubbles with noticeable fragrance, it means the quality of the agarwood chip is superior.

On the other hand, if you pick a piece of agarwood chip and smell it deeply and while doing so if you find a tangy, sharp and alcoholic smell, there is a strong probability that it is not a genuine one.

Distinguish cultivated and natural chip

If you are a layman it is not easy for you to get closer to the facts that reveal whether it is a natural chip or cultivated one. However, if you could bring it to the lab, you can get 100% satisfying results but that would be a costly affair which is not everybody’s cup of tea.

Though, there are some simple techniques that you can use to find out the truth such as:

  • You should pay attention to the hole or spot from where agarwood forms around. If a hole was drilled to initiate the creation of agarwood forming around the wood, it would be a relatively bigger hole. Albeit a small hole can also be created but it is quite a difficult job to do.
  • During the cultivation, the infected wood is formed around its wound. This hole protects it from the outside attack and it is a distinctive feature of cultivated agarwood.
  • Wild or natural woodchip contains multiple holes which are smaller in size. It is created by insects, ants or other tiny creatures.
